BAMM: Making an Impact in Colonial Beach
Erich April 25, 2026
This Talk of the Town highlights the positive impact of volunteering and the vital role nonprofits play in fostering a thriving, supportive small-town environment. Our interview features John Heath, a resident of Colonial Beach, discussing his life and his leadership of the nonprofit organization BAMM (Beach Arts Music and Mentoring). John details his background as a well-traveled military brat and his professional career before explaining how he co-founded BAMM in 2017 to support local youth through arts and music. The organization provides after-school enrichment, donates instruments, and has awarded significant college scholarships to students in the community. BAMM funds its initiatives through community donations and creative events like golf cart scavenger hunts and concerts featuring Heath’s brother, the musician Tommy Tutone.
