2025 review
Written by Ted Tait on December 14, 2025
2025 certainly had its ups and downs. Thanks to a grant from the Colonial Beach Community Foundation, we purchased equipment that now permits us to do live remote broadcasts. We put that gear to use at the Community Center for the PRYCA float in, on Town Hill for the Northern Neck Beach Music Festival, and at Drifters field to broadcast football games! We plan to be at more town events in 2026.
We are getting more involved with the school and Drifters. Basketball will be our next live broadcast, and for the home games that we don’t broadcast play-by-play, we will produce after game summaries and interviews with the coaches. We did this for the home football, volleyball and softball games in 2025.
2025 New Shows:
- Brackish Water Blues Hour – produced by Tracy Girl, this monthly show airs the first Saturday (11AM) and first Thursday (11PM) of each month .
- Ask Dr. Caryn – Have a question about dog training? Send it to Dr. Caryn and she will address your issues on the air! Ask Dr. Caryn airs on the second Saturday (9AM) and second Thursday (8PM) of each month.
We continue to produce our other talk shows when possible, but we are always looking for volunteers to help create them. Your Care Partners, Porch Talk and Talk of the Town each air monthly. Follow the links for scheduled days and times or view our calendar which also lists the topic of each show.
Existing Show Highlights:
- Porch Talk included interviews with local musicians, entreprenours, and other locals of interest. Check the Porch Talk archive if you want to hear one.
- Talk of the Town highlighted new businesses and restaurants in Colonial Beach including the Cruisin Tikis. The Talk of the Town archive has all of them.
Music:
Of course, most of us tune in for the music! We continue to add to our collection to keep the music fun and varied. We have added thousands of songs in 2025. You never know what we will play next! We welcome suggestions. You can call or text us at 804-214-6226.
Fundraising:
It’s not all good news. Our income in 2025 fell short of our budget. We depend mainly on two kinds of income – Underwriting sponsorships from businesses and Membership from individuals. This year we lost a couple of underwriters and we did not make up the shortfall. Our membership program has also fallen short of expectations. We are hoping to regain some of our sponsors and members in 2026 by renewing our fundraising efforts and increasing our marketing. We have changed the way our Membership Program works to make it easier for you to donate. Please consider becoming an ongoing donor as a member.
