Welcome Spring!

Written by on March 31, 2026

Ready or not here comes April, and Easter!  But I’m sure you’re ready for Spring!  You won’t be hearing those Winter weather songs any more – some of which you might have thought were Christmas tunes playing well after Christmas, but they were just Winter tunes, no mention of Christmas.

The arrival of Spring means we can start to enjoy the front porch again, and this week we have a fresh new Porch Talk for you, a new Brackish Water Blues Hour, and Calder’s Collection will feature Easter themed music.  Read more about all of it below!

Porch Talk – From Welder to Spy: A Conversation with Jeff Eisensmith

Our April Porch Talk features Jeff Eisensmith, a retired FBI and DHS professional now living in Colonial Beach. Eisensmith discusses his unconventional journey from a struggling student and welder to an electrical engineer who developed specialized surveillance technology and early cybersecurity tools. He recounts high-stakes experiences with hostage rescue robotics and pioneering internet-based criminal investigations before transitioning into a quiet retirement. The conversation also highlights his current role as President of CB Greenspace, a nonprofit dedicated to environmental stewardship and community gardening. Through initiatives like rain gardens and food donations, Eisenith applys his problem-solving skills to improve local sustainability and beautification.

Calder’s Collection

Our next Calder’s Collection features a collaboration between two of our volunteers who don’t normally work together.  Bill Calder asked the Reverend Dr. Hope Gibbs to introduce the songs in his special Easter edition of Calder’s Collection, featuring the soundtrack of The Ten Commandments and Ben-Hur.  It’s nice to see our volunteers working together to make our original programming!
