Weathering the storm

That was quite a storm we had last weekend! Trees down, power out, and internet down all over Colonial Beach for hours. WWER would have been off air too, except we had backup internet. Thanks to an emergency preparedness grant in 2023 from the Colonial Beach Community Foundation, we installed a satellite internet backup and equipment to automatically transfer our service from the main internet to the backup. I’m pleased to say it functioned as intended, and we stayed on air the next morning on 88.1FM. Residents of Colonial Beach woke to find their home internet not working (including myelf), but radio carried on!
I want to thank the Foundation once again for providing funding that kept us going in the aftermath of the storm!
