Welcome Memorial Day
Written by Ted Tait on May 19, 2026
May is going by fast, and Memorial Day is upon us already! Nothing special planned for us this weekend, except more of the music you love. Speaking of music, we’ve been featuring some new songs lately, including one about Colonial Beach. Produced by local resident Frank Alger “Potomac Playground” is a WWER exclusive you won’t hear anywhere else! You’ll be hearing more songs about Colonial Beach throughout the Summer only on 88.1FM.
Signs of Summer
You’ll also be seeing our signs proudly displayed by our listeners at their homes. Here are just a few…

If you’d like one too, just email info @ wwer and give us your address. If you live in golf cart range, we will deliver and plant one in your front yard! If not, we can make arrangements for pickup on the weekend at our studio.
River Reports

Our Potomac River water quality reports are back on air. Each week, the volunteers of the Potomac Riverkeeper Network sample water in 3 areas around Colonial Beach and test them to see if it is safe for swimming. You can hear those reports Friday-Sunday at the top of the hour on WWER.
7 years on air!
Another surprising reminder of time passing is that WWER is about to celebrate 7 years on air! Join us for lunch to celebrate. We will be having a BBQ and open house at our studio on Sunday May 31 from Noon to 2PM. Join us for a bite, a studio tour, and a chance to find out more about how we operate or even how to volunteer if you’re interested. Our studio is behind Hawthorn Mercantile at 116b Hawthorn St. in downtown Colonial Beach.
