Ask Dr. Caryn & Bikefest weekend
Written by Ted Tait on October 6, 2026
This month on Ask Dr. Caryn we take an in-depth look at how a puppy becomes a service dog and how it literally changes someone’s life for the better. As a volunteer puppy raiser for Service Dogs of Virginia, Dr. Caryn has raised or helped raise over 15 puppies. Dogs can make an incredible difference in people’s lives — but not every working or support dog has the same job, training, or public access rights. Some are trained to perform specific tasks for one person with a disability. Others provide comfort, support multiple people, or work alongside professionals in a specific setting. This month Dr. Caryn explains the difference and how you can become a puppy raiser too.

The 12th annual Colonial Beach Bike Fest runs October 8–11, with four days of motorcycles, live music and bike culture on Town Hill and the Boardwalk. Will you be there? Our roving reporter will be, and he’ll be checking out the music, the people, and doing some interviews to get the vibe. We’ve also got a few bikefest songs in the mix this week too. Keep listening to hear it all!
