September on WWER

Summer is closing out on us fast! But it always seems to do that, doesn’t it? We have a LOT going on at WWER for September, so be sure to have your radio or a way to stream handy!
First of all, we have updated our WWER.ORG front page. It’s a bit cleaner looking, with a new streaming player that you can click to hear us online. The player has a link to the show playlist, so you can look up the names of songs that have played. It still has links to upcoming events, underwriters, and our blog posts (like this one).
Also updated is our archive page. It now includes everything we broadcast, including music shows. So if you missed your favorite show like Tracy Girl’s Brackish Water Blues Hour, you have two weeks to listen again. Music shows can online be kept online for two weeks due to streaming rules. Talk shows like Ask Dr. Caryn are kept indefinately.
But enough about the past, what’s coming up in September on WWER? Plenty of new and interesting shows for you!
This week
Town Matters features an interview with Tim Trivett, Chairman of the Westmoreland County Board of supervisors. Tim talks about the benefit of having a member of the Colonial Beach community working at the County level.

This weekend is the Labor Day Arts & Crafts festival on the boardwalk, and WWER will be out and about interviewing vendors and attendees. Listen for our coverage all weekend!
Next week
On Wednesday 9/9 at 6PM, tune in for LIVE coverage as the four candidates for Town Council meet to discuss issues at the CB Elementary School. This candidate forum is open to the public, but if you can’t attend in person, tune in to 88.1FM to hear the event! When the broadcast is finished, it will also appear in our archives so you can listen later.
Join us for another episode of Ask Dr. Caryn. This month Dr. Caryn talks about a complex case of a Golden Retriever with many issues including resource guarding and seperation anxiety.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11. We will mark the event with a very special broadcast on 9/11 at 8AM called Any Other Tuesday. Tune in to hear memories from traffic reporters and their helicopter pilot who were in the air that day in New York City. We all have memories of where we were and what we were doing on that day, but the story from their perspective is unique.
On 9/12 and 9/13 WWER will broadcast LIVE from the Northern Neck Beach Music Festival. This is always a great event and we hope to see you there, but if you’re not, tune in to hear what you are missing out on! If you do attend,stop by our booth to say hello!

In the third week of September, tune in for Your Care Partners. This month Jill and Desi speak with Chantelle Lippold who is caring for her son Jack who has a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy. Chantelle talks about some of the challenges she and her family have faced together.

Week 4
In the fourth week of September, it’s Talk of the Town. This month we speak with Tom Tilt of the Colonial Beach Community Foundation about the latest Colonial Beach Christmas Ornament that they have created. Tom was instrumental in bringing this very popular item to life, and he talks about the process from start to finish.
